Dear child,
I understand that your mother has told you the news. She hasn’t invited me over for some time. I guess it was inevitable. I never told her, you see. She must think I’ve betrayed her when that is far from the truth.
Don’t worry, I am fine. I’ve been traveling a great deal. That’s the nice thing about being an outcast: you can go wherever you wish. But just because I did, does not mean that you should do, too. Dedicate yourself to your studies. You wanted to become a knight, yes? Stick to it! If I find out you abandoned your dream because of me, I’ll never hear the end of it.
All witticisms aside, I hope that you are well. Your mother does want the best for you and I shall respect her wishes. Do not fret, I’m sure our paths will cross again. Who knows, perhaps you’ll be donning armor when that time comes! But do not despair. Instead of missing my company, turn those feelings into determination. I know that, no matter what comes you way, you will always triumph. The makings of a fine knight, indeed.
I’ll be writing sparingly from now on. I’m crossing into the southern part of the continent and mail-carriers are sparse there, or so I’ve heard. Keep this letter close as a reminder of my love.
Stay strong. I’ll see you again, soon.
Your aunt, K.
